The new drum carder didn’t get a quiet breaking-in period. In the morning she was still in a box; by the evening she had nine batts to her name. Meanwhile, the old drum carder stayed right where it was. They both have a job now.
With the new 120 TPI drum carder, I can blend fibres more finely without processing all that colour and texture into a neat, uniform mass. Every S7oRS Art Batt is built up individually, mostly from hand-dyed merino. To each batt, I add fibres such as silk, bamboo, sari silk, stellina, or wool nepps. Not because every available fibre must be present, but because even a batt needs boundaries.
The result isn’t a scrap pack with a ribbon around it, but a small composition for you to work with. You can spin the batt as it is, follow the colours intentionally, or take the whole thing apart in your own way. For the time being, the fibres have filed no formal objection to this.
Every batt is unique. The exact weight and composition are listed for each variant, and the photo shows the specific item you will receive. So, choose the batt you want to work with; once it’s sold, the exact same one won’t be coming back.
