After extensive research into his family tree, Sheep has made a remarkable discovery. His ancestress, Aaltje, lived in Delft in the seventeenth century and was already dyeing wool there.

Whether Johannes Vermeer ever visited her cannot be historically confirmed with certainty. However, Sheep considers it telling that his paintings feature a suspicious amount of ultramarine, ochre, and beautiful light.

In Aaltje’s Studio starts with Vermeer, but it won’t be a fibre version of a single painting. We’ll explore pigment, roving, pottery, linen, wood, paper, daylight, and shadow. For this Fiberclub, material and texture also play a role: rough and smooth, matte and gloss, wool and a linen- or silk-like effect.

The exact colours and fibres remain a secret. Vermeer is the entry point; Aaltje’s Studio is the collection. Her world dictates the direction, not a pipette on a reproduction.

The Fibre Club consists of 3 × 50 grams of hand-dyed spinning fibres, totalling 150 grams. Everything is hand-dyed in the S7oRS studio. Small variations are part of the charm.
