• 18.5 micron merino – ultra-soft, ideal for yarns you want to wear close to the skin.

• 23 micron merino – still soft, but slightly firmer; versatile and easy to spin.

• Blue Faced Leicester (BFL) – shiny and supple, with a longer fiber, great for lace.

• Shetland – sturdy and warm, with lots of character; perfect for traditional knitting projects.

• Jacob – a multi-colored sheep breed, often mottled wool; resilient and tough.

• Devon – strong and durable, ideal for robust yarns.

• Swaledale – sturdy, somewhat coarser wool; great for outdoor textiles or sturdy projects.

Micron? What is that actually?
The term micron refers to the thickness of a fiber. The lower the micron number, the finer and softer the wool feels. For example, 18.5 micron merino is velvety soft, while Herdwick with its higher micron is robust and sturdy.

With this pack you can discover for yourself how big the differences are between soft and shiny, sturdy and tough, or resilient and durable.
