About S7ors – Colors from the Kitchen 🎨
Hello there! How lovely that you want to know more about the story behind S7ors.nl!
Let me introduce myself: I’m Marieke.
How it all Began 👶
In 2014, I started an Etsy shop with handmade baby bibs, as I was looking for beautiful colors and patterns for my newborn son, Sjors (yes, that’s his name! 🙂). Because I couldn’t find what I was looking for, I decided to make it myself.
Not long after, I also started dyeing wool – I wanted to knit cute socks for my baby, but couldn’t find any nice colors. And that’s when the adventure really began!
Colors from the Kitchen 🧪
To this day, I still dye all my yarns simply in my own kitchen. Each skein gets its unique color there. I also process and package all orders myself, with lots of love and attention. That way I can be sure that everything is right before it goes in the mail.
Yarn Boxes and Gifts 🎁
Besides dyeing, I love putting together yarn boxes around a certain theme. Think of the monthly yarn club or the advent calendars. I dive into colors, materials, matching packaging, and small gifts to make each box special. This love for detail didn’t go unnoticed: in 2024, things were going so well that I had to officially register with the Chamber of Commerce!
My Own Webshop 🛒
In 2025, I launched – in addition to Etsy – my own webshop: S7oRs.co.uk. Together with my husband (a true IT-er 🤓) I am building this myself, piece by piece. This way we can not only be more flexible with the offer – think pre-orders and exclusive products – but also offer more competitive prices. Is something not working as it should or do you have an idea how it could be done better? Please let us know, we would love to hear from you!
Sustainable and Animal-Friendly 🐑
I exclusively work with mulesing-free, Oeko-Tex certified wool and use environmentally friendly acid dyes. This is not only better for the world but also for your project. And the colors? They remain beautiful, wash after wash.
Where Does the Name Come from? 🤓
‘S7ors’ is a nod to my son’s name, Sjors. The ‘7’ instead of the ‘j’ is a silly habit from my youth when, as an avid user of the Amiga computer, I participated in the trend of replacing letters with numbers – something that was very cool back then 😄.
You Inspire Me 💛
My biggest source of inspiration? That’s you. Your creative projects, sweet messages, and beautiful photos make this adventure special every day. A nice review or a tag on Instagram with your creation? That’s what energizes me!
I’m also active on Instagram myself – to find inspiration, share new ideas, and especially to see what’s being made with my yarns. Are you following me there yet? You can find me at @s7ors – it’s great if you join in! 😊
